Tooni refund policy
Effective 30 July 2026
This policy sets out how Two Steps Ahead Co., Ltd. ("we") refunds paid products in Tooni ("the Service"). It follows the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce of the Republic of Korea, its Enforcement Decree, and the Content User Protection Guidelines.
It expands on §6 of the Terms of Service with the procedure and the statutory basis; where the two read differently, the Terms prevail. Where this policy would give you less than the law guarantees, the law applies instead.
1. What is sold, and by whom
The paid product is a Tooni Pro subscription, billed monthly or yearly. Whichever channel you pay through, the entitlement lands on the same account — but who bills, cancels and refunds you differs.
- In-app purchase (App Store) — Apple is the seller. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.
- Web payment inside Korea — we are the seller, and this policy applies as written.
- Web payment outside Korea — Paddle.com Market Ltd. is the merchant of record and handles payment and refunds; Paddle's buyer terms apply in addition. You may still write to us and we will pass it to Paddle.
2. Within 7 days of payment — full refund
If it is within 7 days of the payment and you have not used any paid feature covered by that payment, we refund it in full (Act §17(1)). You do not need to give a reason.
“Using a paid feature” means actually using what the payment unlocked — AI generations beyond the free allowance, premium brushes, watermark-free export. Opening the app or drawing does not count.
We do not charge a cancellation fee or claim damages because you withdrew (Content User Protection Guidelines §12(8)).
3. Once you have started using it — pro-rata refund
The law lets a seller restrict withdrawal for the part of digital content that has already been supplied (Act §17(2)5). For a product divisible by time, such as a subscription, that restriction does not reach the period that has not been supplied yet.
We apply exactly that. We deduct the portion of the term you have already had and refund the remainder pro rata. There is no cancellation fee and no penalty.
AI generations you have already used are not restored, and the refund is calculated from the remaining time — not from how many generations you used.
4. What you can try before paying
To restrict withdrawal for digital content, the law requires that we first give you a way to try the product (Act §17(6); Enforcement Decree §21-2). We provide both of the permitted forms.
- Free use — with an account and no payment, you get every drawing feature and 10 AI generations a month (Decree §21-2(3), a feature-limited trial).
- 2-day trial — from your first AI generation, two days on the same terms as Pro. Once per account, and it does not turn into a charge (Decree §21-2(2), time-limited use).
The trial starts without a payment method and never converts to a paid subscription on its own. Converting a free supply into a paid recurring charge would require your consent 30 days beforehand (Act §13(6); Decree §20-2) — we have no such automatic conversion.
5. When and how you get the money back
- Timing — within 3 business days of the day we receive your withdrawal or cancellation (Act §18(2)2).
- If we are late — we add interest at 15% per year for the period of delay (Decree §21-3).
- Card payments — processed as a cancellation of the card charge. After we ask the payment provider to cancel it, your card issuer may take a few more business days to show it (Act §18(3)).
- Web payments outside Korea — Paddle refunds to the payment method used; timing follows Paddle's and your provider's policies.
6. Cancellation and renewal
- Monthly and yearly subscriptions both renew automatically. Cancel before the next billing date and the next charge stops; you keep access until the period you have paid for ends.
- Cancel in the channel you paid through — App Store subscription settings for in-app purchases, the web (or Paddle's customer portal) for web payments.
- If you want the remaining period refunded as well as cancelled, tell us at the address below and we will calculate it under section 3.
- If we ever raise the price of a subscription, we will tell you the date, the old and new price and the payment method, and obtain your consent 30 days beforehand (Act §13(6)).
7. If we end the contract
If we restrict or terminate an account and the reason is not your breach of the Terms, we refund the unused portion of the term. The same applies if we stop providing the Service.
Where the termination is our fault, we refund the fee for the remaining period plus a further 10% of that amount, following the Consumer Dispute Resolution Standards for internet content services.
8. If the service goes down
If you cannot use the Service because of us, we apply the Consumer Dispute Resolution Standards for internet content services:
- An outage of 3 days or more without prior notice, or more than 72 hours in total in one month — we end the contract and refund the fee for the remaining period.
- An outage of 4 hours or more without prior notice — we extend your subscription free of charge by three times the length of the outage.
- An outage that runs beyond 10 hours even though we announced it in advance (server maintenance and the like) — we extend your subscription free of charge by the excess.
Prior notice means we told you at least 24 hours ahead. Time lost to force majeure or to something on your side is excluded, and if the length of an outage is disputed we count from when you told us about it.
9. How to ask for a refund
Email us the payment date, the product (monthly or yearly) and the channel you paid through. Writing from the email address on the account is fastest, because we can identify the payment straight away.
- robin.lee@twostepsahead.co.kr
For an in-app purchase you need to request the refund from Apple. Write to us and we will point you to the right form.
10. If we cannot settle it between us
You may bring the matter to the Korea Fair Trade Commission, a metropolitan or provincial governor, the Korea Consumer Agency or a consumer organisation under the Framework Act on Consumers, and a content-related dispute may also be taken to the Content Dispute Resolution Committee.
11. If you are outside Korea
Where the consumer law of the country you live in gives you rights beyond this policy, that law applies. A withdrawal period longer than the 7 days above — as recognised for digital products in the EU and the UK — is one example.
For web payments outside Korea, Paddle is the seller, so seller obligations under local law are met by Paddle under its buyer terms.
